  1. 1879
    Pacific Coast Oil Co. Founded

    Pacific Coast Oil Co. founded in Pico Canyon, California, later acquired by Standard Oil.

  2. 1984
    Merger with Gulf Oil

    Standard Oil of California merges with Gulf Oil in the largest merger up to that time, adopting the Chevron brand name.

  3. 2001
    Texaco Merger

    Merges with Texaco to form ChevronTexaco, consolidating global retail, refining, and upstream operations.
