About McKinsey & Company

McKinsey & Company was founded in Chicago in 1926 by James O. McKinsey, a professor of accounting. Under the later leadership of Marvin Bower, it essentially invented modern management consulting, establishing principles of professional conduct similar to law or medicine. It is widely considered the most prestigious consulting firm in the world.

McKinsey entered India in 1992, becoming the first major international strategy firm to do so following the country's economic liberalization.
