About Apple

Apple was founded on 1 April 1976 in Cupertino, California. Steve Wozniak designed the Apple I computer while Steve Jobs managed the business. The Apple II (1977) became one of the first commercially successful personal computers, and the Macintosh (1984) introduced the graphical user interface to a mass market.

After a difficult period in the 1990s, Steve Jobs returned as CEO in 1997 and led a product revival beginning with the iMac and the iPod. The iPhone, launched in 2007, became the company's defining product. Apple's revenue has since expanded significantly through its Services segment — including the App Store, Apple Music, and iCloud — alongside its hardware lines.
