About Kotak Mahindra Bank

The Kotak Mahindra Group has a unique origin story. Founded in 1985 by Uday Kotak as a small bill-discounting firm with backing from Anand Mahindra, it grew into a highly successful non-banking financial company (NBFC) and premier investment bank. In 2003, it became the first NBFC in Indian corporate history to be converted into a commercial bank.

Today, Kotak is heavily respected for its conservative risk management, elite investment banking arm, and dominant institutional equities business (Kotak Institutional Equities). Its '811' digital banking initiative successfully captured massive retail market share.
