About Nykaa
Nykaa was founded in 2012 by Falguni Nayar, who left her high-profile job as Managing Director at Kotak Mahindra Capital at the age of 50 to start the business. At the time, India's beauty market was highly fragmented and plagued by counterfeit products. Nykaa utilized an inventory-led model to guarantee product authenticity, which built massive consumer trust.
Nykaa expanded from an online-only platform into an omnichannel powerhouse, opening dozens of physical stores across India. It also expanded into fashion (Nykaa Fashion) and launched its own private-label beauty brands. The parent company, FSN E-Commerce Ventures, held a blockbuster IPO in 2021.
