About Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo was founded in 1852 by the same men who founded American Express. It was created to provide express delivery and banking services to California during the Gold Rush. The iconic stagecoach remains its logo today. While it is one of the 'Big Four' US banks, its focus has historically been deeply domestic rather than international.
Wells Fargo dominates US commercial lending, middle-market corporate banking, and retail banking. After facing severe regulatory scrutiny starting in 2016 over sales practices, the bank has been undergoing a massive, multi-year transformation regarding compliance, risk management, and technology infrastructure, much of which is driven from its massive GCCs in India.
