About Zepto
Zepto was founded in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic by childhood friends Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, who dropped out of Stanford University's computer science program. Having struggled to get groceries delivered during lockdowns in Mumbai, they built Zepto to execute ultra-fast, 10-minute deliveries.
Zepto achieves this speed not through reckless driving, but through hyper-local micro-warehouses ('dark stores') optimized for picking and packing speed, coupled with intense route planning algorithms. Zepto became India's first unicorn of 2023, defying a global funding winter, and operates in fierce competition with Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.
