About GitLab

GitLab started as an open-source project created by Dmitriy Zaporozhets in his house in Ukraine to help his team collaborate on code. After teaming up with Sytse Sijbrandij, they formed a company that famously operated as one of the world's largest all-remote workforces, long before the pandemic.

Unlike competitors that piece together different tools for code hosting, CI/CD, and security, GitLab pioneered the concept of a single application for the entire DevSecOps lifecycle. This allows engineering, security, and operations teams to collaborate on a single unified platform.

What GitLab Does

Source Code Management

Git-based repository management with advanced branching and code review.

CI/CD

Industry-leading Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines built natively into the platform.

DevSecOps

Automated security testing (SAST/DAST) embedded directly into the developer workflow.

GitLab Duo (AI)

AI-assisted coding, code explanation, and vulnerability resolution across the development lifecycle.
