About HP
Hewlett-Packard was founded in a Palo Alto garage in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, widely regarded as the origin of Silicon Valley. HP grew into a diversified technology company spanning scientific instruments, calculators, computers, printers, and enterprise IT. In November 2015, Hewlett-Packard split into two independent companies: HP Inc. (consumer PC and printing) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (enterprise IT).
HP Inc. retains the HP brand and logo and focuses on personal systems -- including laptops, desktops, workstations, and accessories -- and printing hardware and supplies. Its Poly brand (acquired 2022) adds video conferencing and collaboration hardware.
