About Intuit

Intuit was founded in Palo Alto, California in 1983. Scott Cook, inspired by the difficulty of managing household finances, partnered with Stanford student Tom Proulx to build Quicken, a personal finance application. The company listed on NASDAQ in 1993.

Intuit expanded from personal finance into small business accounting (QuickBooks) and consumer tax (TurboTax). The acquisition of Credit Karma in 2020 and Mailchimp in 2021 extended Intuit's platform into financial health and small business marketing.
