About Ola

Ola (ANI Technologies) was founded in 2010 in Mumbai by IIT Bombay alumni Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati. Originally a holiday package site, it pivoted quickly to a cab-hailing service after Aggarwal had a bad experience with a rental car driver. Ola engaged in a fierce market share battle with Uber in India, emerging as the market leader by localizing its offerings (like adding auto-rickshaws and two-wheelers).

In recent years, Ola has diversified massively. The most prominent spin-off is Ola Electric, which manufactures electric scooters in its massive 'Futurefactory' in Tamil Nadu and recently went public. Ola also operates Ola Krutrim, an AI startup building indigenous foundational models.
