About Zomato / Eternal

Zomato was founded in 2008 in Delhi by Bain & Company colleagues Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. Initially named Foodiebay, it began as an online restaurant discovery and menu platform. It rebranded as Zomato in 2010 and eventually expanded into food delivery, competing fiercely in the Indian market.

Zomato listed on the Indian stock exchanges in a landmark IPO in July 2021. In 2022, Zomato acquired quick commerce startup Blinkit (formerly Grofers) for $568 million. The company recently adopted an overarching internal corporate identity called 'Eternal' to house its multiple distinct businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure, and District.
