About Coinbase

Coinbase was founded in 2012 with a radical idea: that anyone, anywhere, should be able to easily and securely send and receive Bitcoin. It started as a simple Bitcoin wallet and quickly expanded into a full retail exchange, making crypto accessible to mainstream consumers.

Today, Coinbase is the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States. Beyond its retail app, the company provides deep liquidity and custody solutions for institutions (Coinbase Prime) and builds core Web3 infrastructure, including its own Ethereum Layer 2 network, Base.
