About Zerodha

Zerodha (a combination of 'Zero' and 'Rodha', the Sanskrit word for barrier) was founded in August 2010 by brothers Nithin and Nikhil Kamath. By introducing a flat-fee discount broking model, they disrupted an Indian brokerage industry that traditionally charged percentage-based commissions, saving traders billions in fees.

Zerodha is uniquely famous for being entirely bootstrapped, having never raised external venture capital, while generating massive profits. Its flagship trading platform, Kite, and its financial education initiative, Varsity, have been instrumental in bringing millions of Indian retail investors into the equity markets.
